  IF Jehovah's Witnesses are right...

  ...then jesus lied about how to identify the false prophets.. ...then jesus lied about the sign of his presence and of the conclusion of the system of things.. ...then the watchtower bible and tract society disassociated itself from true christianity through a repeated lack of neutrality.. ...then i will happily die at armageddon knowing i stood up against a god who supported a deceitful earthly corporation as his own.. but, i am not afraid they are right.

  If witnesses are living in a spiritual paradise at the Kingdom Hall, then paradise must be a very very very dull place. Just picture an eternity of sitting at boring meetings and assemblies subjected to the same kind of "instruction from Jehovah" that some of us have been listening to for over 40 years already. I think after 1000 years of that I would be praying for the second death!

  Also, think of every annoying, judgemental, self-righteous, pompous JW you ever knew. If witnesses were right we would have to spend eternity with these people! Actually, I'm hoping the Catholics are right and I'm going to keep good company with the sinners in Hell. Look forward to seeing ya there Auld Soul. We'll meet up with tetrapod and sick of lies and have some laughs and some drinks!

  i have to say that i have never had as much fun with a subject as with this one.

  you can really see the goofyness of religion under the demon microscope.

  When I was a good JW kid, around the ages of 3 and 5, I was attacked in my sleep by demons almost every night. So was my 5 year old brother who slept in the same room. Now my parents, also good JW's, tried valiantly to protect us from these demon attacks. Every night, when they said our prayers with us, they prayed out loud for Jehovah to protect us from the demons while we slept. They taught us to say Jehovah's name out loud if we were ever attacked by the demons. They gave us each a Bible to sleep with under our pillows. (only the NWT would do, of course) . Strangely, none of these talismen used to work. Every night, my brother and I woke up screaming from nightmares that the demons were attacking us. We would crawl into the same bed and hug each other for comfort. We finally concluded that the house we were living in was haunted and we moved.

  Now the really strange twist to the story is, now that I am an apostate, the demons never bother me. Not a peep. Nada! So, I say, screw the Bible under the pillow and saying Jehovah's name out loud! The thing that really works and gets out demon shit is apostate TIDEings! But if they are really entrenched, you may have to presoak your brain on JWD for a few extra days.

  I love Saturday mornings now! My son and I sleep in for as long as we feel like it, then we go for brunch and talk about how much more we like sleeping in and going for brunch than we did going out in service, then I take him to his electric guitar lesson and I sit in the car for half an hour vegging to my favorite music. Love it!

  Also love Thursday night prime time line up. Survivor, OC, Apprentice. So much more trashy and fun than the service meeting.

  It is true that you cannot force your fiance's family to accept you or force him to give up his family for you and your child. What you can do is be patient and not allow either side to treat you with disrespect. I know you are angry at his family right now (justifiably so) but angry, threatening language towards them will only convince them that their initial assessment of you is correct. You might want to try to kill them with kindness. Also, in similar situations I have been aware of, the family is often angry in the beginning, but will later soften when they realize that may be the only way to remain a part of their son's and grandchild's life. If they do get over their initial upset about your relationship with their son, they will no doubt try to convert you for the sake of the baby and their son. So, while you can maintain a respectful attitude towards them for the sake of your fiance (whether they deserve it or not) please don't make the mistake that I have seen many others in your situation make: namely going along with a study or agreeing to take your child to meetings because you want to have a happy united family. If they eventually come around for the sake of seeing their child and grandchild, and you maintain a respectful and tolerant attitude towards them, then they should be able to do the same for you. You shouldn't accept any less than this from them if they wish to be a part of your child's life in the future.

  It may have been proven that the death penalty is not a deterrant to others committing crimes but you have to admit it sure as hell is a deterrant to the one who receives it. That person won't be committing any more crimes.

  Not to be too simplistic, though, I see the other side of the argument. The amount of wrongly accused sex offenders who have been proven innocent by DNA is not something to be scoffed at. There have been a couple of high profile cases in Canada. Wrongly convicted rapists, etc. How many more are there that do not have the money to have the testing done. How many people already executed were actually innocent. It is frightening how many times the "justice" system gets it wrong. There is no simple right or wrong answer to this

  Did anyone else have this happen when out in service?

  You and your service partner are walking in a nice neighbourhood, admiring the beautiful houses, and they say, "I love this house! I hope it is still standing after Armageddon and Jehovah let's me move into it!" I thought we were in the neighbourhood trying to save the occupants of the houses from Armageddon, not trying to save their houses for ourselves! I am ashamed to say I got sucked into this line of conversation so many times. But it did make me very uncomfortable. I would always say, "In the new system I hope I can have a house as nice as this one. The whole thing makes me sick now!

  Luna2 ...if we're good enough and if they feel like we're important enough to the cause, that is. Sometimes, when the moon is right and the stars are in proper alignment, they will even send us money floating across the street on a breeze just as the car runs out of gas on a deserted dirt road. Demons are out to get us at all times and lie in wait inside of musty garage sale items and smurf dolls to attack us and try to gain control of our minds. AND If we sell enough mags and books, plant enough troof "seeds", don't have extramarital sex or touch ourselves too much, attend all the meetings and stay away from BLOOD, we'll get to live forever and take over the world.
